Hello,

we need a device to convert 8-channel LPCM with 16/24-bit@32/44.1/48/88.2/96/176.4/192kHz (4x I2S) to ADAT Lightpipe 24-bit@48kHz.

Is there some kind of driver IC which can convert the serial output of an ADAU1452 to NRZI coding?

Thanx for any hint

Hello renne,

I am with you on this one. I wish there was a way to do it with the SigmaDSP but there is not. It is capable of doing the NRZI encoding but only in the stereo SPDIF format. Years ago there used to be a part that did the encoding to an 8-channel ADAT light pipe but it went obsolete a long time ago. I went looking for a solution for a personal project a few years ago and met with similar frustrations you are finding. I know companies have used a SHARC processor to do this but the ADAT technical details are a little difficult to find because it was proprietary. If you have not already done this I would ask on the SHARC forums and the DIY forums to see if someone has already done this and could help you.

I would think this could be done with a low cost small FPGA but I do not know if anyone has developed one. Let me know if you find one. It would be handy for the SigmaDSP community.

Thanks,

Dave T
