Hi there, can I just replace a ADAU1701 with a new blank one bought from places like Digikey ? I've got the RCF ART 710A and it also has a EEPROM. Will the new/blank ADAU1701 load from the EEPROM on startup to do its job?
Thanks

Hello Peterpan101,

Yes, the DSP has no programmable non-volatile memory. So it is always blank until it wakes up and either selfboots or gets programmed from an external device. If one fails any new one can be dropped in and work.

I am surprised you have one that failed. These are rather robust and usually well isolated from the outside world of static charges and shorts. It makes me wonder if something else is the fault? But, I have zero info on your specific issue.

Hi DaveThib! Thank you for your fast reply.

It's at a analog audio input section where there was a massive spike/lightning strike and damaged it. shorted it out and pulled downits own VCC voltage and got hot. When removed 3.3V VCC voltage came back up again and its PIC microcontroller it communicates with is still fine.

Ill replace it with a working one and keep you updated :D/
