It's April 2025 .... and still there is no support for Sigmastudio on Apple M1,M2, M3, M4 Computers, despite a lot of people is moving out from Windows ....

Now Sigmastudio runs well in a Macbook with Apple Silicon (inside Win11 for ARM). It's even fast enough.

But compatibility stops at the USBi driver ... apparently it's installed, yet it does not work. That's normal, it seems, driver code is not emulated.

Tried several times, nothing. So it's impossible to deply/debug firmware on actual Adau devices.

Now, is it too much (once again) to ask for a proper USBi driver (ARM version) running on Win11 for ARM?

This would solve the problem for most users on Apple computers. We could run Sigmastudio in a Win11 ARM virtual machine .... and live happy with our developments ...

Who is interested in the development of a USBi driver for Win11 on ARM?

I'd be happy to pay some money ... if Analog Devices won't listen to our requests ...

I'll support this effort with $$ because my days of hacking Windows drivers is long gone, but I'm finding I must keep my 2018 Intel MacBook around JUST to run Parallels/Win10 to run SigmaStudio on hardware that ADI supports. I would love to run it all on my 2024 M4 MacBook, but can't. So how can I help?

I HAVE MONEY IN HAND WAITING! I just got Parallels 26 and Win 11 and I'd LIVE to move my Intel-based SigmaStudio projects to my new (well, 9 month old now) M4 Apple Silicon computer to use with SigmaStudio and the USBi interface so that I can move away from my Intel-based Mac, which I keep JUST to use SigmaStudio. I'm too old to hack the win driver install process that *may* work; that's something my 20-year-old self would get into, but not the 70-year-old me. But I do have cash! It would be BETTER if ADI were to support Macintosh, however. Just sayin'...

Hello PBouvier,

Send me a PM with your email address and also send a friend request. You have an interesting idea.

I am not sure exactly how this could all be worked out. I am listening and I also have an M1 MAC sitting right next to me!! However, I am not the decision maker so I will continue to advocate but please send an email and this is probably best dealt with off of the forum.

Hi PBouvier251,

Did you ever make any progress with this and if so, is this driver now a saleable item?

I have working solution for MacOs / Wine (driver on mac side with dll driver on Wine side) ,

Could Analog Devices document the protocol that is used between the USBi and SigmaStudio? That might be one step towards a Mac solution.

USB Devices each have a specific number of Interfaces, each with a specific number of Endpoints, each of a particular transfer type and protocol. All that's really needed is documentation of these, and it would be much easier to develop macOS software.

I have designed USB Device firmware, USB protocols, USB drivers, and macOS software that interfaces to custom USB devices. The only limiting factor is that we can't change the USBi firmware, so whatever USB Endpoints and protocols that exist will have to be adapted to by the software running under macOS (which has very usable USB libraries enabling custom devices).

I guess that I should clarify: macOS does not necessarily need a driver. It depends upon the USB Device Class. With documentation of the interfaces, endpoints, and protocols, it might be quite easy.
