Thread Summary

The user encountered an error due to exceeding the instruction limit in the 'IC 1-Sigma' section while using the EVAL-ADAU1787Z for an Active Noise Control application. The solution involved setting the core clock frequency and ensuring the FastDSP module was enabled, allowing the project to compile and run successfully. The user confirmed the workaround was effective. Another user requested details on the ANC application and coefficients used.

Hello,

I am using the EVAL-ADAU1787Z for an Active Noise Control application. I only need two inputs and one output, and I’m using an IIR filter ("Hp") with two gains, and the resulting signals are then summed (see diagram on screenshot). The IIR coefficients are fixed and are not meant to be updated during real-time operation.

I’m using the FastDSP module with a sampling rate of 769 kHz to minimize latency. The “IC 1-Fast” section only contains 5 instructions at the output. However, when compiling the project, I get an error due to exceeding the cycles/instructions limit in "IC 1-Sigma" (43 used out of 32 available), mainly because the SafeLoadCode uses 20 instructions according to the Compiler Output window.

Given that my IIR coefficients are fixed, is it possible to bypass or remove the SafeLoad operation in order to reduce instruction usage?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards,

AxelJ

Hello AxelJ,

I set one of the registers and the I'm able to compile the project and this below pass thru works fine with my Eval board. I set the ADC and DAC sample rate to be 768KHz.

This below register sets the core clock frequency.

Yes, It's SigmaDSP control tab, but setting the core to full potential makes it work. I will seek for reference if any.

But it lets you compile the project and work. Note that total instruction (64) in the compiler window is for sigmaDSP, the fastDSP will have 32 instructions at 768KHz.

I made an audio pass thru with FastDSP. To make sure that the FastDSP is actively running, I changed the FDSP EN and FDSP Run registers, when I set that off, the audio goes off. So, the FDSP is actively working.

And making the same changes in SigmaDSP tab (SDSP EN and SDSP Run registers) doesn't impact anything anywhere in the pass thru since I didn't use SDSP.

This is just a basic response, so please try this and let us know if it works as expected for you.

Regards,

Harish

Hello AxelJ,

I am currently working on Active Noise Reduction for my internship and I'm new to Sigma Studio. I could perform some HRTF applications, however it is kinda impossible to find ANC source for SigmaStudio.Seeing your post, can you share your ANC application with the coefficients you applied? I am an undergrad who needs some help and appreciate any kind:)

Thanks in advance,

Eda
