Thread Summary

The user encountered a sharp, piercing sound and 0dB output level when using the NR module with ADAU1466 EVK and white noise input. The support engineer provided a working example project for the wideband noise reduction algorithm and requested the user's project for further review. The user attached their project for inspection.

Hi ADI Teams
Recently, I worked on a projuct requiring environmental noise reduction, so I tried using the NR modlule with ADAU1466 evk and downloaded its example code. However, I encountered some issues during testing and am unsure if it's due to incorrect usage.

Here is some detailes:
> I replaced the mic input source with white noise to simulate a noisy environment.

> After enabling the input and applying NR processing, I observed a very sharp, piercing sound.
> The output signal level remains at 0dB in Level3 block shows, even when reducing the gain of the white noise input, or disable NR nodule.
> I checke the *sigma300_nr_plug-in_for_sigmastudio_user_guide.pdf* and confirmed the QMF coefficients are correct.

Could this issue be caused by incorrect usage? If so, could you please advise on potential mistakes or troubleshooting steps?

Thanks.

Hello KeithYang,

Please find the attached working example project for the wideband noise reduction algorithm. Try this in your setup and let us know if it's working as intended for you.

Hi Harish,
Thank you very much for your help. I believe the NR module is now functioning properly, as I observed the output level shows of approximately 15dB while in the whiite noise input when toggling NR on and off. I noticed that your example used ADAU1467, so I ported your implementation to ADAU1466, and it works equally well. Thanks.
Best Regards
