Thread Summary

The user seeks to update EEPROM firmware via an MCU using the ADAU1452. The solution involves using the DSP's master control port to communicate with the EEPROM, with the MCU connected to the slave control port. The process is similar to how SigmaStudio uploads and tests the EEPROM program through the DSP, including a chip erase sequence. The user requested C code or API for the MCU, but the code in SigmaStudio is in C++ and may not be directly usable.

Hello Support Team guys,

one of our customers would like to update the EEPROM firmware by MCU via ADAU1452. At the first time, the customer use the USBI to flash code into EEPROM. The EEPROM is connected ADAU1452 with SPI. There is no physical connection between MCU and EEPROM. right now, the customer would like to update the EEPROM code. would you please provide the example code for us?

Thanks & Best regards,

xiangzhi wu

Hello xiangzhi wu,

Please have a look at the below thread which explains how to write to an EEPROM by MCU via ADAU1452.

The EEPROM will be connected in the master control port of the DSP whereas the MCU/USBi will be connected to the slave control port for controlling the DSP. So, the MCU will not have a direct access to the EEPROM unless you have a provision in your hardware.

Sigma studio (USBi) which is connected in the slave control port will communicate to the EEPROM (connected in the master control port) via the DSP. Below is how it does.

SigmaStudio downloads a program to the DSP so the DSP acts like a data server and will exchange data between the slave and master comms ports of the DSP. This is how you can program the EERPOM and test if it is correctly programmed. So, the MCU has to do the same thing which is thoroughly explained in the below thread.

Write EEPROM through ADAU1452 - Q&A - SigmaDSP Processors & SigmaStudio Dev. Tool - EngineerZone

I believe you want to write a new program to the EEPROM, this method has chip erase sequence, so it automatically erases the old program and write the latest one.

Harish

Hello Harish,

Thanks very much for your feedback. That's right that MCU should take the same job as PC. However, would you please share the C code or API of PC? That would be better.

Thanks & Best regards,

Hello xiangzhi wu,

The code was written in assembly code for the DSP. So the application for the MCU is just to upload the server program and exchange data. It is not all that tricky. Just use the Capture window to see how it all works.

The code inside SigmaStudio is probably done in C++ which will not translate well to other environments. Probably cause more problems than solve them.
