Thread Summary

The user encountered an issue with the ADAU1701 not detecting the input signal from the CS5368 ADC in Subordinate TDM mode. The solution was to connect the MCK and BCK clocks to both sets of pins (MP10&11 to MP4&5) and configure the registers for clock input. The user confirmed the problem was resolved after making these connections.

Hello

I got a problem with 1701 detecting the input signal using TDM in. ADC is cs5368, Subordinate TDM mode with MCK=BCK=12.288M and LRCK is 48K(frame clock is /1024 and bck is /4.)

From the above picture I could see data from ADC level is about -32db or so, but I could not see any signal from the signal detector.

anything I did wrong?

Hello PowerPan,

I think I know what the problem is. You have no clocks going to the serial input port.

You need to jumper externally MP10&11 over to MP 4&5 and setup the registers so they are the clock inputs.

Your logic in your head is very much on point in my opinion. If I had been the Apps engineer on this project way back when I would of had the designers make this connection internally and not waste two MP pins!!!

If the port is a slave then you have to connect the clocks to both sets of pins. If the port is a master then you have to connect the clocks to both pins!! Both ways are the same!!

So just tie them internally!! Ugh!

But the issue you are having is that you have no clocks to the serial input port.

Hello Dave

thanks for the reply and pointing out where the problem is. My mistake by ignoring the input clock. cause I normally use 1452 and am not familiar with 1701.

Problem solved.
