Moving from SigmaStudio to SigmaStudio+: how to split two 16-bit samples packed in one 32-bit TDM slot?
I’m migrating from classic SigmaStudio to SigmaStudio+ and have a question about serial input formatting.
My TDM stream uses 32-bit slot width, where each 32-bit word contains two 16-bit audio samples (e.g., 16b + 16b packed into one slot).
In classic SigmaStudio, I could set the Serial Input Port → Data Format = 32.0 and then separate the two 16-bit samples inside the DSP.
In SigmaStudio+, I don’t see a place to set Serial Port Data Format (e.g., 32.0 vs 8.24).
How should I separate two 16-bit samples that are packed into a single 32-bit slot in SigmaStudio+?
Is the data presented at the serial input block in SigmaStudio+ treated as 32.0 or 8.24 internally?
Any guidance or pointers to official documentation would be appreciated.

Hello TimYuan,
Sorry for the trouble.
I can also see that option is not available in SS+.
This feature in SS will bypass the internal saturators, so the entire 32-bit data will come to the core from the serial port / entire 32-bit data will go out from core to serial port 'as is', but I think this feature in SS hasn't been ported yet over to SS+.
I will ask the respective team for more info and let you know.

Harish
Hello TimYuan,
In addition to the questions Harish asked I am wondering how many channels is your TDM stream?
The reason I ask is because the DSP itself can be set to TDM2 and TDM4 with only 16 bits per channel. If you have eight or more then you are correct that it has to be done in software.
I have also asked.

Thank you very much for your reply. My TDM stream may carry 8 or 16 channels.
Thank you very much for your reply.
I will continue using SigmaStudio; my current version is 4.7.
May I ask whether SigmaStudio will receive any further updates, or has it effectively reached end-of-life?
Hello TimYuan,
OK, I was wondering if I could work out a hack to work around this issue but not with TDM-8 or 16.
I did report this issue to the programming team. They entered a ticket into the system and will work on it for a future release. No idea how far into the future but this should not be a difficult fix so I would hope they can churn this out sooner than later.
Thanks for bringing this up to my attention. I had not tried to do this in SS+ yet and this feature needs to be there!!! Many use it not just the way you do but for sending or receiving from 32 bit converters!!
I noticed the utilities for packing and unpacking are there but those are useless without being able to change the input and output ports!!

Okay, thank you! very much .
I’ll keep an eye on SigmaStudio+ updates.
Hello,
We have a product with two ADAU1462s. DSP #1's SDATA_OUT drives DSP #2's SDATA_IN. The 24-bit limit in SS+ constrains our design.
We hope to see an update to SS+ soon.
Thanks,
-Robert
