I2S input and ADAU1466 no BCK and LRCK signal
Hello,
I've baught a motherboard with adau1466 and I try to connect an I2S microphone at first. This is my configuration :
But when I test LRCK_00 and BCK_00 I haven't got any signal. Is there something to enable?

Seb

Hello Seb,
See if you can find the schematic of the board?
Because, I think this is the serial port 0 Output port not the Input port.
I am guessing that this board might have a codec that is attached to the serial port 0 clock and data pins.

Hello Dave,
You're right as usual, I'm feel so stupid. Here is the schematic of the boad :
It's a lowcost board name mediaworks or mediaworx based on an adau1466. I use a wondom ICP3 to program it with I2C. The 2 boards are connected by SDA,SCL, 5V and ground. It seems to be OK because I have "active download" in Sigma Studio.
It still doesn't work I have also tested BCK_I1,2 and 3, there is no signal too. The pins 3.3V and 5.0V works.
Seb
Hello Seb,
I know about the board. I also do not have the schematic to that board and your picture is not clear enough to read it.
Since you are using I2C that helps. It means the DSP is supplying an "ACK" signal so since SigmaStudio is saying "active downloaded" then it is highly likely the program is in the DSP and running. You should go over to my YouTube channel and watch my video on "Troubleshooting". It might be a little helpful.
Meanwhile, please upload your schematic so I can see your register settings. If none of the BCLK signals are active then something rather obvious must be going on?.... Although, it always seems obvious once you find it! LOL
Check to see if you have anything on the CLKOUT pin? This is assuming you have the PLL enabled and the CLKOUT pin enabled.
It is good to know you have the 5V and 3.3V. What about the DVDD? This is an output from the internal regulator and should be around 1.2V. This runs the DSP core.

Hello Dave,
I've watched your video "Troubleshooting" and indeed I have a problem with USBi. My ReadBack is "FFFFFF". I've tried to use a Wondom ICP3 made for WONDOM APM2 ADAU1701. When I saw "active download" I thought it was OK but not. I order a new USBi emulator, I hope that solve the problem.
I haven't got anything on CLKOUT. DVDD is OK I have 1.2V.
Here is the schematic of the board :
I powered the board with USBi, is it necessary to have an external power supply?
Hello Seb,
Is R26 mounted on the MDW PCB? If it is then is it still good? It should be 0-ohms.
There are some strange things I can see on the schematic. Here is one if them:
Why is the SCK and SDA lines tied to other outputs on the USBi
Then looking at the labels on the DSP it looks like it wants to use SPI not I2C
It is late in the evening for me so I will have to print this out and study it a little further.

Hello Dave,
R26 is monted and fonctionnal. There is no signal in USBi PIN 1 or PIN 7 whitch souhld have a clock signal. I've tried to test the PIN 23 on JR connector and no signal too
Hello Khoeds,
This morning I downloaded the schematic and rotated it and zoomed in so I could read it properly. This answered a lot of questions.
Check that these resistors are either stuffed or not stuffed. Where I put in the "X" should NOT be stuffed and the ones with a checkmark should be stuffed.
R5 and R6 NOT stuffed
R7,R8,R9,R2, R26 should all be stuffed with zero ohm resistors.
Then looking at the DSP slave comms port:
Look at the signal labels to the slave comms port:
The PCB is setup to use SPI not I2C!!!!
So this is why you cannot program or communicate with the DSP. Set the USBi in SigmaStudio for SPI.
This should help a lot. Then we can move on to your original question should you have issues with the I2S connections to the microphone.
Thanks,
Dave T
I'm gonna wait my new USBi interface because the Wondom ICP3 seems not to work with SPI protocol. At the beginning of november...
Hello,
Today I've received my new USBi interface which can communicate whith SPI protocole and it works!!! Thanks a lot to help me to find the problem
