ADAU1452 weird problem
Hi
I have a problem again with the project below, don't know what's wrong with it.
When switching to SPDIF, the L channel works fine, but the R channel 16 outputs a sine wave while channel 0 outputs nothing.
I have to tell that I did put a sine wave osc module there for testing purposes, but why is the sine wave output still there after deleting the module? even reopened the software and downloaded it again. Anything I did wrong?
Before deleting the sine wave module, it works fine.

Hello Powerpan,
Your project seems fine to me, it works fine.
I believe you are self-booting from an EEPROM and there are chances that you wrote the previous compilation (where sine module existed) to the EEPROM and you have self-bott switch on. so, I think the DSP is running the previous compilation. You may have noticed that when you write to EEPROM, it says "write latest compilation thru DSP", even if you deleted the sine module and arranged everything and clicked "latest compilation thru DSP", then also it just writes the previous compilation (because you didn't compile after the changes are made). so, after making the changes (deleting sine module, rearranging schematics) you will have to compile the project again and click "latest compilation thru DSP".
Please try this and let us know. Also, don't forget to turn the self-boot pin LOW while writing to the EEPROM.

Harish
Hi Harish
Thanks for your prompt reply. I did do what you told, but how you could explain when the system is on, I click the "link compile download" icon, and still it's the same. At the same time, why does it work for the left channel and not work for the right channel? My sine wave module outputs to T and routes to both left and right channels.
Now I tried another new board without booting the DSP by EEPROM, after power up, programming the DSP by USBi, and still the same result, while choosing the SPDIF input, it will output a sine wave form channel 16.
Finally, I figured it out, cause another engineer used my SPDIF board to write some other program and forgot to tell me caused this problem. After he told me, everything was solved.

Hello Power pan,
So, now you are not self-booting from EEPROM? even if you are programming from Sigma studio, the issue is still there?
okay, we can use Sigma studio for debugging and once everything works fine then you can write to EEPROM. Make sure that the self-boot switch is turned off, when you are accessing/controlling from sigma studio.

Just put a level detector before the output blocks (output ch0 and ch16) to see if you are getting a signal.
It seems something is corrupted, so reset the board and give a power cycle and open a fresh project and make a basic pass thru and see it works correctly in your hardware.
If the pass thru is working properly, then insert the filters.

Hello PowerPan,
I downloaded your project and used an Audio Precision to create an SPDIF output and fed it into the DSP.
Your project works perfect. I see the SPDIF signal when it is selected and I do not see both channels when it is off. I can also turn off one channel at a time and the correct channel shuts off. I also tried several levels and they were perfect.
So I have no idea what is going on with your setup. I would look into the selfboot that Harish suggested. You MUST shut off Selfboot when you click on Link/Compile/download or if you want to test that the correct program is being loaded into the DSP from the EEPROM then use Link/Compile/Connect so SigmaStudio does not try to program the DSP while the selfboot state machine is also trying to load a program into memory. All sorts of strange things can happen with that setup.
One strange thing I notices with your program are the channel assignments of the outputs. Seems strange....
Left LPF on channel 40 and right LPF on channel 0 ??
Then Right HPF on channel 32 and right HPF on channel 16 ??
The serial output port registers are setup for stereo operation. So therefore, you are sending out signals on channel 0 and 1, and 16 and 17.
Here is the figure of the datasheet that shows this:
So you are only sending the audio to the left channels of all four serial ports. Only one channel on each port.
This may be why you are not seeing the right channel. You are sending NOTHING to the right channels.

Hello Dave
Thanks for your test and kind help. I solved this problem because another engineer took the 1463 dev board (my SPDIF source) to test and did not tell me. Because he did not have my project, so he could not restore my program. that caused the problem.

Power Pan
