Thread Summary

The user inquires about the suitability of ADAU1787 vs ADAU1467 for an adaptive ANC application using FxLMS. The ADAU1787 is more suitable due to its FastDSP core, though it currently lacks FxLMS filters in SigmaStudio. The ADAU1467 is powerful but lacks ADCs, DACs, and headphone amps. The ADAU1797A is not recommended due to its HiFi 3z core and limited support. The user requests a basic customized FxNLMS implementation for the ADAU1787.

Hello Team,

Kindly answer below points. Which help me to decision making in part selection.

Application: Primary path: I2S, Secondary path: 4 Analog Microphones(2 Feedback and 2 feedforward). to develop a adaptive ANC using FxLMS.

1. For above application ADAU1787 vs ADAU1467. which is more suitable for our application? which is more plug and play ?

2. am having ADAU1787EVBoard but it is not having FxLMS filters in sigma studio - can we make custom FxLMS filter? any reference schematic ?

3. Is ADAU1467 is for Noise cancellation? but in applications it is not mentioned. Wonder that ANC is mentioned for ADAU1787 in applications but not available in sigma studio.

4. i also see new device, ADAU1797A, what about this? is it having FxLMS ? but is it having only 3 Analog inputs ?

5. On your recommendations for ANC in earlier posts, we have purchased EV board for ADAU1787, but need some support for custom FxLMS. to make it adaptive As of now only NLMS is available in sigma studio.

Kindly reply all points

Thank you

Hello CJI,

I have alerted some of our engineers who work more with these parts than I do. I can offer a few responses but I also see you posted the same question again here:

ADAU1787 Vs ADAU1797A vs ADAU1467 - Q&A - SigmaDSP Processors & SigmaStudio Dev. Tool - EngineerZone

I have pointed the other engineers to your new posting. So more info should show up there.

I will make a few comments on your questions where I can.

1,& 2) They both are programmed using SigmaStudio so they both are relatively plug&play. The 1787 has two cores. The FastDSP core is a filter engine that only computes BiQuads. Implementing an FxLMS filter is very computationally intensive and the ADAU1787 only has a Sigma200 core. We hope to have some better examples of solutions available soon using the FDSP and IIR filters for lower latency. In the past we did not want to upset any of our current customers but the ANC space is fairly open now so it is time for us to offer a starter project.

The ADAU1467 is a very powerful core but has no fast DSP core for super low latency, and it has no ADCs, or DACs or headphone amps. The ADAU1787 is usually better suited for ANC. However, many customers have used it for things like duct noise suppression and echo cancelling when using a mic and speaker.

3) Look at this older post:

Help with Modified FxLMS/FxNLMS in an ANC application - Q&A - SigmaDSP Processors & SigmaStudio Dev. Tool - EngineerZone

We have improved the search feature of the forum so take advantage of other posts with similar questions.

4) The ADAU1797 is a much newer part and not as much out there since it has had limited distribution. It also has a Fast DSP core but the main DSP core is a HiFi 3z core so you cannot use SigmaStudio to program it. Opens up a lot of complications. I would have to connect you directly with a support engineer for that part. I think this is not the best route for you.

Hey TEAM,

Thanks for the answer. But I need FxNLMS Hybrid. Can you get me the basic Customised FxNLMS implementation on the ADAU1787?
