Thread Summary

The user is looking to convert custom blocks and DLLs from regular Sigma Studio to Sigma Studio Plus (SS+) for use with newer SHARC platforms. The final answer indicates that the algorithm designer in SS+ requires manual code updates from the old SS, with much of the terminology remaining the same. For SigmaDSP 300/350 products, the user must contact Analog Devices directly to obtain the designer module and sign an NDA. The user is referred to the Algorithm Designer help file for further guidance.

I have a number of custom blocks, dll's that have been in use for many years running of SHARC as well as ADI platforms in regular Sigma Studio.

We have customers looking to use some of the newer platforms and would like to start using SS+ with all of its added features.

What is the process of converting these dll's to SS+?

I am able to add them to SS+ with AddIns Browser but when I design projects the custom block never show in the ToolBox list of available items.

Is there a conversion or import option?

Any documentation on updating or converting my custom blocks for use with SS+?

THANKS!

Hello fulwave,

The basic underlying software structures of SigmaStudio is different for SS+ so yes, they need to be updated. I am not a programmer so I do not know exactly what needs to be changed. I will contact our software team to see what you need to do this.

We will probably have to continue the conversation off of the open forum.

Thanks,

Dave T

I am also interested in development of blocks, so if you can leave pointers to documentation that answers these questions, I would appreciate it.

Hello fulwave,

I heard back from the programming team. SS+ is different in that the algorithm designer comes with it for the SHARC products.

You have to manually update the code from the old SS to the SS+ designer. Much of the terminology remains the same so it should be a fairly smooth process and let me know if you run into roadblocks.

Note that this capability comes with the standard download and it only applies to the SHARC products. If you are developing for the SigmaDSP 300/350 product line, then you have to contact us directly to obtain the designer module and also sign an NDA since there are some proprietary details that are exposed.

Here is the help file info:
