Hello Analog Devices support team.

I'm developing a project with the ADAU1401A and I intend to use the SPI interface with a microcontroller.

I acquired a development board from China with the ADAU1401A, and adapted a 5x2 connector to be controlled by the ADUSB2EBZ-BOARD that I own.

I connected a logic analyzer to the SPI pins and I see that when I press the "Link Compile Download" button, communication does occur, however, it seems that the DSP is not working correctly.

I found in the ADAU1401A datasheet that to enter SPI mode, the SELFBOOT must be low and 3 low pulses must be given to the CLATCH/WP pin.

I thought the RESET pin would be pulsed and 3 dummy SPI transactions would occur.
Is there any configuration in Sigma Studio to generate the SPI initialization sequence?

Best regards.

Hello ctak,

Sorry that this post evaded my view. I would have expected it to be posted in the SigmaDSP sub-forum. I usually check this main Processor/DSP space but somehow missed this. Sorry about that.

No, SigmaStudio does not generate the SPI sequence. Either you download the program a few times or as I usually do I will usually have a Readback cell in my project so I just click Readback three times and then link/compile/download.

The Selfboot pin is also important to not have it set to Selfboot.

I also want to mention that this is true for the other older processors like the ADAU1701 and the ADAU1761 and related derivatives. However, the Sigma300 and Sigma350 cores SigmaStudio will produce three SPI toggles when it compiles and downloads a program. Those older parts mostly used I2C by customers so it was not until later someone on the programming team finally decided to include the SPI toggles!!
