Thread Summary

The user encountered an issue with the safe load write function on a stereo 7ch multiplexer in SigmaStudio 4.7, where it appeared 7 parameters could be updated, contrary to the datasheet's limit of 5. The final answer clarifies that 5 registers hold the actual parameter data, while the 6th and 7th registers specify the target address and the number of writes, respectively. This aligns with the datasheet's limitation, ensuring only 5 parameters are updated per safe load method.

On stereo 7ch multiplexer , the capture output has this

Safeload Write
Time: 07:56:18 - 845ms
IC: IC 1
Cell Name: L_R_IN_SEL
Param Name: stereomuxSigma3001vol0
Param Address: 0x04D1
Param Value: 0
Bytes: 28
Param Data:
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x01, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00,
0x00, 0x00, 0x00, 0x00

Which implies that you can write 7 parameter during safe load, but the data sheet says can only do 5 parameters at as time..\

I've use safe load write to update filter parameters , but this is the first time I have run into to this

What I am I missing.

This is SIGMASTUDIO 4.7

Hello rwalborn,

The safe load allows only 5 parameters to be updated; for example, you can update the 2nd order biquad IIR coefficients (5 coeffs) on the fly using safe load method.

Then why are you seeing 5 parameters? Because that's how this procedure works.

You have to write the actual coefficients to safe load data register (5 writes), and you have to write the starting address of the coefficients to this safe load target address register (6th write) and then you have to write how many parameter you are updating (total no of data writes) to the safe load trigger register (7th write), in Biquad IIR filter case, this trigger register will be 5.

The below given address references are from datasheet.

Step 1 - write data to safeload - data registers (0x6000 - 0x6004)
Step 2 - write target address to safeload - target address register (0x6005)
Step 3 - write number of words to safeload - trigger register (0x6006)

So, you have to write to 7 registers in which 5 registers contain the actual parameter data and other two registers are 'target address' and 'no.of writes' register.

So, 5 parameters can be written using single safe load method.

The below thread has an example code snippet; it helps you understand how safe load works.
