I would like to create an automatic equalizer (Auto-EQ) in SigmaStudio.

My original idea was to implement the whole system using high-order shelving filters.

Goal:

The audio signal should be monitored continuously.

I would like to define a reference level, for example, -28 dB.

If the measured signal is above this value, the equalizer should automatically attenuate the corresponding frequency ranges.

If the signal is below the reference value, the equalizer should automatically boost the corresponding frequency ranges.

The strength of the adjustment should be freely configurable (e.g., ±1 dB, ±3 dB, ±6 dB, etc.).

In addition, attack and release times should be adjustable so that the control does not react too quickly.

The control should be divided into 12 frequency bands.

My approach was to measure the RMS level for each frequency band and compare it with a target value. Then, the gain would be adjusted automatically using high-order shelving filters.

Example of operation:

Target level: -28 dB

Measured level: -25 dB → the band is attenuated by 3 dB.

Measured level: -31 dB → the band is boosted by 3 dB.

The system should continuously remeasure the signal and update the filters accordingly.

I would also like to be able to adjust:

Target level

Maximum boost

Maximum attenuation

Control speed

Correction strength

I have already tried various AI-generated approaches, but so far I have not been able to successfully implement the desired functionality. The plan was to connect the control logic to an RMS/level measurement block and automatically transfer the calculated values to the high-order shelving filters.

Hello,

I have attached a basic project below which switches filters based on the incoming input level.

You can use LUT to access many filters of this Index selectable filter block. This project may give you an idea, so you can build your logic around it.
