The user experiences a popping noise when powering on and off the ADAU1466 board on SigmaStudio 4.7. The recommended solution is to implement an external mute circuit controlled by a GPIO from the DSP or a system controller to mute the audio during power transitions.

Hello,

I am using ADAU1466 on SigmaStudio 4.7

When power is connected to the board, it turns on, but a slight popping noise occurs at startup as well as at shutdown.

How can I prevent this from happening?

Thanks.

Hello Bedar,

I am afraid our eval boards were designed to be low costs so we did not add any extra features. What would be needed is a mute circuit external to the codec so that the audio can be muted before shutdown and would be muted at powerup. Then use GPIO from the DSP or a system controller to control the mute.
