Can anybody answer my questions from two months ago...?
Here is the old unanswered question:
SigmaStudio 3.17- block processing sort of works now..maybe?

Hi Team (I am using adau1466 eval):
Well, was very excited to download 3.17 and see that I can finally pass audio through a FFT/IFFT combo- first time, thanks!
But, seems to be many more bugs relating to any kind of block processing:
For example, I took a sine tone block and an audio input, assigned to two 'block' input blocks, on the schematic page.
On the block schematic page, added two input blocks and an output block.
On the block schematic page, connected the tone block to the output block, OK, works.
Delete the interconnect between those blocks and connect to the audio block- even though the assignments are correct from schematic to block, what I hear is still the tone output.
Tried many combos of this and nothing works.
Seems impossible to do any block processing that involves more than one input/output combo...making block processing pretty useless, still, unfortunately
Also, if you delete and then re-add any of the block processing I/O blocks, they increment their address as if there are more block I/O's...
Are these known bugs?
I have a product design I am trying to complete, but can't (won't) due to these continuing problems.
Grateful for all the hard working being put into these amazing parts, but pretty frustrated because I can't do what I need to do because of these continuing bugs...
Thanks,
Gary

Hello Gary,
Sorry that no one has come to your aid so far. The rather amazing capability of the ADAU1452 and newer DSPs has created a vacuum in the available block-sample operations -- and an even larger gap in how to use them. For example, the only block-processing algorithm I could find documented in the wiki is this one:
Block Scalar Addition(ADAU145x) [Analog Devices Wiki]
Even worse, there appears to be no "Block schematic 101." It's understood that up to now, to do something useful in block processing required custom algorithms --since only a few most basic ones were available in the Toolbox. Thus, no urgent need to publish any directions. Now with more algorithms being added, I'm wondering when more documentation will arrive. In the meantime, I can offer a suggestion which may or may not be of use: Remember that block operations take lots of instructions which execute in between the usual streaming operations inside the DSP. Thus, it may help to remove any whose output(s) go nowhere.
Best regards,
Bob
Hello Gary,
Unused block I/O on the block schematic results in buffer memory to be allocated but never freed which can cause the program to not execute correctly. Of course you can have multiple block I/O, simple example:
Hi KJ Bob and bitmechanic:
Thanks to both of you for your replies! Much appreciated!
I can only imagine that the people that are capable of writing the docs for the chips are buried in all the silicon support, etc... huge task!
KJBob- you have been a huge help to this community and me and I have read all of your posts for a long time now! Bitmechanic: great work and I hope to see more from you as well.
My big challenge is I am trying to complete a product design which is using the new 1466 (great part!) and am trying to complete all my evaluation in order to make sure I can do all I require with the part- so, it's pretty urgent on my side. And, of course, the challenge is not knowing the exact use/intent of some blocks and when things are not working, I have no idea if it's a silicon issue, my issue, or a software problem...
I'd very much like to do some FFT/IFFT work...but...
I wish I had a lot more time to contribute to this forum (hopefully soon), and I'd be most happy to help put a dedicated group of us together to help write docs for ADI to approve...
Perhaps those of us that are interested could work together and perform tests/examples with a given set of blocks, kind of one by one, and use these as templates to write WIKI materials and help the guys @ ADI?
