Hello everyone!

we are currently designing a new product, based on ADAU 1772 audio processor.
We need to measure RMS value of the signal for at least 0.05s. We trued the Single Level Detector (SigmaStudio 3.11), but it seems that it calculates (and returns to DBREG0-DBREG2) a value calculated for the shorter time. Could you share, please, more information about the underlying algorithm (how the RMS is being calculated, how many samples does it take, which value it sends to DBREG0, etc). Also we would be grateful if you include some other algorithms for RMS estimation for the ADAU 1772.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Hello,

To calculate the RMS value of the signal the DBREG value can be used but this would have to be done outside ADAU1772. The DBREG value is instantaneous sampled value and this value would have to be read and then used to calculate the RMS value i.e. the RMS algorithm will need to be done outside ADAU1772. As you know ADAU1772 is Bi-Quad only DSP and does not have all the possible operations like SigmaDSP to calculate the RMS value.
