Hello,

I'm working on a project with the AD194x. The goal is to use the ADI surround algorithm to upmix a stereo source. So far, my project looks like the exemple in the ADI Surround wiki page. Frequency sampling is 48KHz.

After multiple tests, I realize that the rear channels, LR and RS, sound unbalanced. To the ear, it sounds like there is more high frequency components in the RS channel. I tried the different modes, I swaped the outputs then the inputs, but the RS is always the louder channel.

Do you have any ideas what can cause this issue?

Hello Jerome,

I will investigate but it would be good to also have your project.

Hi Dave,

Thank you to take the time to consider my issue. As requested, please find attached my adi surround test project. As you will see, I kept the design as simple as possible. For my test I play music via a spdif source. I connected my headphone on the outputs 6 and 7.

The master clock is 12.288MHz.
The PLL is set as:
PLL_CTRL0 = 0
PLL_CTRL1 = 1
PLL_CTRL2 = 0

Regards,

Jerome
