Just asking before buying parts: is there a way to make a frequency division(by 10, for example) in sigma studio for the Adau1701? It seems to be doable by cutting out 9/10th of the signal by a counter, and maybe joining the parts with keeping the level, but i'm quite amateur in sounds, so it would be better to hear it from a pro! Thanks!

Hello freeone,

Well, I think you are asking about shifting the pitch of an audio signal? The dividing method you mention would only work for clock-like signals and since you mentioned "audio" I am assuming you mean music or voice?

So wew do have a pitch shift algorithm in the library. It will have audible artifacts that get worse the more you shift the pitch. certainly a shift of dividing by 10 would not sound very good.

I did some searching of the forum and found these threads. There are more. This should give you an idea of what it is and what it is capable of.

Hello!

Thanks for Your reply, i've read those topics already. I just guessed that it could be done with some tricks, because what i want to convert, is animal sound, so not music etc. but i was looking for a better device, to avoid using digital frequency dividers, to get some quality. So i guess there is no easy way:) Thanks anyway!

Maybe old fashioned recording tape with a speed controller work better than a digital method. turn up the speed for the recording.

Slowing down later is easy with audio sw, what i want to do, is on-the-fly division, for listening on site.
