Goodmorning everyone
I have written several applications using ADAU1701, I need to replace the DSP to play audio messages in PCM format or in any other format.
I need to sample at least 96000 Hz and I need to use SigmaStudio development software, I also need to generate SSB modulation.
Which device I recommend.
Thanks for collaboration.

Hi Piero:

I would probably suggest the 1452. how big are the files you need to read from?

Thank you Miguel for the answer.
I need to play 7 different messages of 1.5 second each.
Surely in PCM format they occupy a lower amount of memory than the WAV format.
The need is to be able to directly insert messages into the memory of the DSP, so when you are going to write the external flash memory it will also have to contain the necessary messages.

Yes, I have to sample at 96Khz because I also need to generate an ssb modulation at 32768 hz.

A question, adau1452 or higher, sampling at 96khz has only 512 instructions instead of 1024?

Hi Piero :

Did you mention that FS should be 96kHz?

I'm studying to see what we have to offer.

Thanks

Miguel

Hello piero,

No, those instruction numbers are for the ADAU1701. The ADAU1452 has 6,144 instructions at 48kHz fs so therefore 3072 instructions at 96kHz. Plus, it has a quad SIMD architecture so that it can calculate filters, especially, FIR filters, must more quickly using fewer instruction cycles. Then there are some additional hardware accelerators that the 1701 does not have. So the 1452 is many times more powerful then the 1701.

Hello Dave,
The 3072 instructions are more than enough for my application.
Still a question, my application is very low cost, you need 3 DACs and 3 ADCs, so you can not use the AD1938 codec as in the EVAL-ADAU1452MINIZ.
If you can not use AD1938, can audio messages still be reproduced by sending them directly to one of the 3 DACs?
The needs are really small:
3 DAC
3 ADC
4 input ports
4 out port
6 messages lasting 1.5 seconds each
Sample rate 96,000
Before you buy EVAL-ADAU1452MINIZ I would like to know if I can use ADAU1452 without external audio codec
Thank you
Piero

Hello Piero,

The ADAU1452 has no converters on-chip except the AUXADCs which are only used for control purposes. So you must have an external codec. Since you need 3 ADCs and 3 DACs you will have to use the AD1938.

Now there is an issue with the eval board and that is it is difficult to make it run at 96kHz fs. The codec is set to Standalone mode. We do have a new eval board that will be out soon that makes it easier to modify to be able to address the codec and change the sampling rate. It also has more memory. I will alert Ken to your needs.
