Extra SDATA_OUT on ADAU1452
Hi All,
I'm using SDATA_OUT3, SDATA_OUT1, SDATA_OUT0 to send data to Amplifier chips. The Amplifier chips only support I2S, so I cannot use TDM to reduce SDATA_OUT pin count.
SDATA_OUT2 is used for transferring data to a streaming module.
So I need to add a extra SDATA_OUT pin that syncs with OUT 3/1/0. Is there a way I can output a fifth SDATA channel on pin LRCLK_OUT1/MP5, or other pin ?
If this is not possible, can someone suggest a cost effective DAC chip with SPDIF input?
Best regards,
Thomas

The ADAU1452 does not allow this. The new ADAU1463 and ADAU1467 do allow some of the MP pins to be used as additional data inputs or outputs.
NB the ADAU1463/7 are not pin compatible with the ADAU1452 and are not expected to be available until mid September.
The ADAU1463 and ADAU1467 are not pin compatible with the ADAU145x parts, but they are code compatible. The larger package is required because these parts have eight pins (SDATAIOx) that are assignable as additional SDATA pins for either input or output serial ports. These are not additional full serial ports, but augment the BCLK and LRCLK of a serial port with additional data pins.
On serial ports 0 and 1, up to three SDATIOx pins, with the primary SDATA pin, support up to four I2S, four TDM4 lines, or two TDM8 streams. On serial ports 2 and 3, one SDATIOx pin, with the primary SDATA pin, support up to two I2S or two TDM4 streams. This pins can each be used with either the input and output serial ports, with the limitation that there are eight of these pins total.
This is a significant architectural change because it makes accessible far more of the 48 input and 48 output channels without running at high TDM rates. In your application, assuming the amplifiers can be clock slaves, all four can be connected using I2S to a single serial output port.
As mentioned, the SDATAIOx pins can also be used as MPx (GPIO) pins.

Using the 1452 you could combine your signals and send in TDM8 from OUT3 to input0 of an ADAU1701/2, Feed one of the outputs of the 1701 in 12S to the amp. Use the 1701 as the extra DAC.
