Hello,

I'm trying to set up a Raspberry Pi with an ADAU1452 chip working as an I2S codec for audio I/O via the Pi's GPIO pins.
The ADAU1452 chip is on an eval board EVAL-ADAU1452MINIZ.

Is there a linux driver for the ADAU1452 to don't have to start from scratch ?
If not, is there a linux driver for a similar DSP that I can adapt to the ADAU1452 ?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jacques

Hello Jacques,

Sorry for the long delay.

So we do not have a driver for the Sigma300 parts. I am discussing the possibility of having one written but I would like to better understand the needs for the driver.

How would the DSP to interface into a Linux system?

What do you need for the functionality of the driver?

How would the part be programmed? The DSP can boot itself but then the Linux system would have to wait until it is fully booted before communicating with the part.

Would you want to access objects running in the DSP program? This would make the driver super complicated since there are many types of objects and many ways they can be setup to operate. So would it be limited to a few volume controls and mutes?

hi Dave!

is it possible to firmware adau1452 from compiled hex or bin file via linux console (raspberry pi) connected via i2c bus ?

Hello nabiullin,

SigmaStudio can produce a hex file that a controller can load into the DSP and run the program. We just do not have a Linux driver to do it.

You should read this Wiki post which explains some techniques of using a controller.

Hi Jacques, I have what you need (Linux Kernel Driver for DSP over I2C, works with most ADAU DSPs) and I also have a c++ application that writes firmware for DSP on boot, including also TCPi for Linux that can be used with Sigma Studio to read / write / program your DSP, you can contact via private message for more information.

Note: The PHP module for DSPs is under development, which will allow direct access, using something like this:
<?php
$bus = 0x3b;
$addr = 0x0010;
$data = [0x0, 0x1, 0x2, 0x3];
tcpi_write( $bus, $addr, $data );

$db = -15;
tcpi_write_volume( $bus, $addr, $db );

$firmware = [0x0, 0x0.....0x0];
tcpi_write_firmware( $bus, $addr, $firmware);

?>
