ADAU1452 I2C slave control port
Hello,
I am using an ADAU1452MINIZ to run a project through Sigma Studio 3.14. I am trying to be able to use an external microcontroller to be a master and continually read the value of a ReadBack block in 32-0 format. I'm having a little trouble seeing if this is possible by reading the documentation. I'm reading the "Slave Control Port Overview" section which states the port can "configure the control registers".
Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks

Hello Aud_Eng,
I assure you it is possible since SigmaStudio communicates with the part in the same way you are trying to. So I need some details:
Are you using SPI or I2C?
How are you connecting to the eval board? Pins etc.
What exactly are you sending to the part and what are you seeing back?

Hey Dave,
Thanks for the reply. I was able to get this working.
I'm using SPI as it seems I2C isn't broken out on the eval kit. I soldered directly to the pins on the bottom side of the board from the SPI control port where the USB programmer plugs in. This really isn't ideal but I was able to get it working. Is there another interface that I could use? I looked at the commands in the capture window that the programmer was sending to the DSP when reading the ReadBack block in question.

Hello Aud_eng,
The I2C pins are on the 10-way header but they do not go anywhere on the eval board. The SPI and I2C are two different outputs on the USBi interface. If an eval board is setup for both then there has to be either an electronic switch or a good ole mechanical switch to route the SDA and SCL pins over to the ADAU1452. If you are setting up to use an external PCB to drive I2C onto the eval board then use the 10-way but connect SDA to the MISO line and SCL to the SCLK pins on the 10-way connector. You will have to provide your own pull-up resistors since they are not present on the eval board. Pins 5 & 7.
