self-boot "presets"?

I'm looking for a way to create a few different presets for self boot sigma devices like the 1701. I don't have a micro-controller in the system and would like to keep it that way. I want to do this with a hardware switch (and I have a single pole multi-position switch in mind) that would be set to the appropriate position (preset) before the device is booted. My initial idea was to somehow use a shift register with one large capacity eeprom and have it "shift" the addressing of the eeprom but after some research I'm not sure I'm smart enough for that. The other thought is to use several eeproms (8kB is apparently enough for 1701), tie all the SCL and WP lines together and switch the SDA line between eeproms with the switch. Any other suggestions?

Follow up about a related note...

After perusing some more data sheets, the AN923 note from Analog and the ADAU1701MINIZ pdf, I've found a discrepancy wrt to the pull up resistors for the self-boot eeprom. The datasheet for the 24AA256-I/ST calls for a 10k pull up resistor for 100Khz operation and 2k for 400Khz operation. The AN923 talks about how with a 48Khz sampling rate, the SCL for the eeprom would be just under 400Khz and this AN923 note shows 2k pull up resistors in is sample schematic. But, the MINIZ schematic shows 10k pull ups. Is there a reason that the prescribed 2k resistors weren't used?
