what is the max number of input channels in the adau1979 ADC
I saw in the adau1979 manual on page 16, that there is an option of 16 input channels.
As mentioned there: "Alternatively, one of the TDM modes can be used to support up to 16 channels on a single TDM data line".
Does this mean i can actually use 16 inputs?

Each part only has four ADC. However, you can select to use TDM 16 and there is a register where you can select where the four channels will be placed in the 16 channel TDM stream. You can then take that output of 16 slots with only four slots of data and send it to a second ADAU1979. Then this second part will insert its four channels into four different slots and now you have 16 slots with eight channels of data. Continue daisy chaining the parts until you fill up the 16 slots. It will take four of the ADAU1979s to do this.
