Thread Summary

The user inquired about the meaning of a symbol in a comparator setting, which was intended to represent 'If A = B' but appeared more like 'If A is not equal to B'. The support engineer confirmed that the logic is correct and suggested adjusting the symbol for clarity to avoid confusion, noting that the actual programming language used does not use '==' for equality checks.

I would have guessed that the symbol shown means, "If A is not equal to B" -- but troubleshooting the logic of my project shows that it's really, "If A = B." Which is correct?

Hi Bob:

Do you mean we should just straighten the lines on the bitmap? " == " is common in some languages. We just wanted to make it a bit more artistic:) I guess that backfired.

thanks

Miguel

Hello Miguel,

Thank you for taking the time to investigate this and answer. Likely we don't wish to change the logic of this comparator setting, as this would cause backward compatibility issues. Adjusting the symbol is fine.

We're not programming in C here, so the construct at right might prove clearer than the one at left.

Best regards,

Bob
