Hi,

We're working on a product which uses the 1701. It's our hope to be able to use the dsp to create surround stereo sources. I've seen that there is an analog devices surround block for sigma, but you need to request access to it? I was also wondering if there is are any licensed Dolby PL blocks?

Thanks!

Hello,

I would suggest you look into HDSX. A trial version is included in the library. Then there is always the ADI Surround we offer in the library. All of these do run on the 1701 and may work out for your needs. The Dolby cells will not work on the 1701 ( but I think Pro Logic will). The ADAU1452 will run most of the others but I do suggest you look into the HDSX.

Our aim is to create a wireless surround solution using a range of speakers rather than using one stereo speaker to create the illusion of surround, as it appears HDSX does.

As we can only rely stereo audio to the speakers, the best solution we can come up with is that the speakers do the surround decoding natively on their DSPs and then choose which channel they will playback. So a solution like Pro Logic would be ideal, preferably PLIIX or PLII so that we can have 5.1/7.1, or ADI surround. Where would I be able to download these blocks and discuss licensing? A lot of this information appears to be missing from the Wiki.

It appears that this page used to contain information on the licensed blocks, but has since been taken down

Hello,

we created a HDSX.multichannel block, that decodes stereo-sources into the surround output channel configurations, you need, using the unique HDSX sound architecture. We are just porting a 2 channel to 5.1/7.1 channel version to ADAU 1452 and we have a Trial PlugIn available, running on ADAU 144x. Just write an Email to info@kronoton.com to get this Trial PlugIn for testing. After that, we can port the HDSX.multichannel decoding version of your choice to ADAU 1701.

Hi Dave, I can help you by providing you with HDSX.multichannel, which is a surround decoder, that is based on the HDSX technology, you already saw in its stereo version, which is indeed a virtual surround sound expander. With HDSX.multichannel, you have surround decoding as well as HDSX Sound Expansion. Indeed, it sounds much better than PLIIX etc. and you can create a 7.1, 6.1, 5.1, 4.1 surround field from 2 channels or 5.1 input channels. After successful testing, it's no problem to port the decoding version of your choice to the required ADI DSP platform . The Trial PlugIn of HDSX.multichannel is running on ADAU 144x and is not part of the Wiki yet, so you couldn't find it.

Best regards,

Gunnar

Hi Gunnar,

We would be very interested in trying out HDSX, do you have a trial version that runs on the ADAU1701 or would we have to buy a new evaluation kit to trial this.

Thanks

Hi Harry,

I will provide you with the answer to your question tomorrow. In case you will need an ADAU 144x Evaluation Board, I will organize one. In the meantime: Please send an Email with your Contact- and Company data to: info@kronoton.com. We will prepare the Evaluation License Agreement than, which organizes the Evaluation process.

Thanks,

Gunnar

Hi Harry,

here is the answer to your question about the test hardware from yesterday: The ADAU 144x Eval Board is the right one to test HDSX.multichannel.

Best regards,

Gunnar
