Which approach to take to implement a 64-channel ASRC?
I need to implement a 64-channel ASRC (actually, two of them, because my application is bi-directional). I was looking at using a total of eight ADAU1445 units glued together with some FPGA logic, but that approach needs a lot of board space.
Is it possible to have the entire functionality built into a single device (e.g. DSP?). I understand that there is also an ASRC library available for the Blackfin processors, but is it possible to scale the library that it can handle all channels?
(I know that similar FPGA implementations will grow too large even for big FPGAs).

Hello roffez,
This is an interesting project and quite lofty! I support the SigmaDSP product so I could help you to implement this using the ADAU1445 but I think you should explore the Blackfin solution. I will move this post over to the Blackfin space on the forum to get the attention of Apps Engineers there. So contact me (or reply to this post) if you decide to use the SigmaDSP solution and I can help you further.

Hi DaveThib
Did customer contact you directly if he is looking for SigmaDSP solution?

Hi Dave,
I decided to go for the ADAU1445 because the specs (dynamic range/THD+N) are *much* better than the ASRC from the Blackfin library), and implementation seems quite easy. I will take 8 ADAU1445's and glue them together with FPGA logic (which will give me 64+64 channels bi-directional ASRC conversion). This seems the most reasonable approach in terms of cost, performance and implementation time.
Regards,
Rolf
Hello Rolf,
I think you should look at the ADAU1451. We made some improvements to the ASRCs in this new part and there are some other details we should probably discuss off-forum. I will send you an email.
