any suggestions for SigmaStudio on Win 7 32 via Vmware Fusion for Mac
Hello
Trying to program the adau1701 using the USBi interface with SigmaStudio v3.12 on a virtualized install of Win 7 32 bit running on a new iMac using Vmware Fusion for Mac. Sigmastudio at first recognizes the plugged in USBi v1.2 and displays the green bar and green header on the Sigmastudio hardware configuration screen. Can also bring up the Read/Write register window for IC1 (adau1701) and do simple one byte reads and writes viewing with the capture output window.
But when attempting to compile/link/download a very simple dc source --> dsb read test program, I receive the USB comms failed message, Resetting USB interface does not appear to do anything after several minutes. Comms restored by unplugging / plugging in USBi but receive the same comms failed message when attempting to compile/link/download. USB port is set as USB 2.0 compatibility in Vmware Fusion. In Win 7 the Cypress drivers installed by SigmaStudio appear as loaded with the device is working properly message in Device Manager. Have uninstalled/reinstalled cypress drivers with no effect.
Other things/items tried without success;
second USBi v1.3
adau1452
Sigmastudio v3.13 beta
USB compatibility set to USB 3.0 in vmware
USB 2.0 hub
Parallels Desktop for Mac
VirtualBox
upgrade to Win 10 32 bit
All devices do work as expected on an older Win XP machine and also on standalone Win 7 machine. Was trying to unify development system to new iMac.
Any & all suggestions greatly appreciated, thank you for reading...

Hello JJ,
Did you ever figure this out? I have a personal MACBOOK Pro that I use with Parallels running Windows 7 and I have no problems using SigmaStudio. So something must obviously must be different in your system. I know this is not much help but you did a lot of troubleshooting and I have no other suggestions to try.
Since you are getting the green bar means there is some communication. Make sure they are set properly in SigmaStudio as far as for SPI or I2C depending on the board. I know the 1452 eval board is a SPI controlled eval board and if you try to write to a device that is not responding you will not get an error message. It will happily spit out the program with nothing listening. A by-product of the SPI interface. So if you are getting the message then it might be set to I2C? Something to check.

I think it's the fusion. My VirtualBox (open source) was not working. Now I'm running win10-64bit in Parallels11 and MacOS 10.11.6 and it works from 3.13beta + 3.13 and (hopefully) onwards.
Anybody that have dared to upgrade to MacOS10.12 and Parallels11 and/or Parallels12? Please share experiences.
Cheers
J
After many weeks of testing I believe there are two possible reasons as to why the USBi interface is not working for me.
1) the usb 3.0 ports on my new 27" iMac
2) the Cypress drivers installed in Win 7 and now Win 10 in combination with the aforementioned apple usb 3.0 ports
I was able to import the VM Fusion windows machine over to parallels desktop and still experienced the same issue. I also tried VirtualBox and that too showed the same issue, each time using the same iMac.
When using other apple pc's (laptops & desktops), everything works as expected. Out of every 20 to 30 tries at uploading/programming the adau1701 via the USBi interface, perhaps one or two attempts will be successful. Something is getting lost somewhere, just not sure what.
Thanks for the suggestions, will continue to test this, but for now I'm relegated to using an older laptop for programming.
