This is difficult to answer because it is not just one simple formula. The release time is in dB/sec so the length of time it takes to decay is dependent on the level you start and finish at. The same for attack time. In an RMS compressor it will be based on the time it takes for the RMS sum to reach the threshold that is set by your parameters.

KJBob did a superb job of detailing how to gather the data in the earlier post that you had pointed to. This way you can gather data that is close to what your application will need for settings. Then you can come up with a table that can be in your controller. This is much easier than trying to calculate some complicated formula to come up with a value. I see many people who use these compressors will come up with settings that sound right for their application by looking at levels and most important, listening to the audio. Then they record a range of settings and either they only use those table values or they interpolate for values in between table entries.

So I think you should look at what KJBob did and use those methods to come up with the settings that will work best for you. He really did a great job detailing this.
