Hi Guys,

Looking at these two algorithm is there a maximum number of data points?

I ask as lets face facts MLSA is dead as a measurement system and whilst i have a deep love having worked on it for 18 years its just not being supported as far as i can tell. No machines have a full length ISA slot let alone the required bus speed and the software was last updated to run windows 98.

Now most modern measurement systems will output FFT data which i have done on my system and i have then formatted this to look the same as the MLSSA files but its not importing and my guess is the shear number of data points modern systems generate is the issue.

Now if this is the case can some one let me know the exact number that is supported so i can remove enough to hack these algorithms to work.

Any insight into how these are setup would be a great help I'm sure to others not just myself

Thanks as allways

Graeme

Thanks Miguel

When I export the FFT data its coming out at around 60 points vs 30 points on the sample MLSSA

Hi Graeme:

For the AutoEQ you should use ARTA files ( impulse responses) , this would be your fastest bet. I'll see about posting a sample MLSSA file as a reference.

Also, I don't suggest users go overboard on number of points. The AutoEQ generates biquads and the gentler the biquad, the better from a DSP standpoint in my experience.

Miguel

Have you had any luck generating the MLSSA impulse response sample? alternatively can some one let me know the maximum data points in the algorithm

Sigma studio is incredibly picky about the format of that file.

They have sample files that will import, and the format should be copied exactly.

I have created a Python script to convert the data from REW to Sigma studio acceptable format. Sigma studio is critical on column widths, whitespace included.

Here's my script. Change to your directory and filename

************************************************************************************************

import numpy as np

fileName = '4-25-16-17-52-41'

finStr = 'C:\\Users\\uspospjones\\Documents\\Personal\\Acoustics\\SpeakerMeasurements\\RenegadeV2_4-15-16\\'+ fileName + '.txt'

fin = open(finStr, 'r+')

fout = open('C:\\Users\\uspospjones\\Documents\\Personal\\Acoustics\\SpeakerMeasurements\\RenegadeV2_4-15-16\\'+ fileName +'_MLSSA.txt', 'w')

# Sigma Studio Required Spacing Placement

fout.write('"Sensitivity Excess Phase - dB SPL/watt (8 ohms, @0.50 meters) (High)"\n')

fout.write(' "Hz" "Mag (dB)" "deg"\n')

# Load in data, skip the header.

# REW has 14 lines of header info

data = np.genfromtxt(finStr, skip_header = 14, delimiter = ' ')

for i in range(0, len(data)):

fout.write('{0:10}, {1:11}, {2:11}\n'.format(data[i, 0], data[i, 1], data[i, 2]))

fout.close()

print('Conversion Complete!')

Another comment, it would be interesting to see a working Impulse Response file instead of the frequency response. As they're different and I can't get an example of the impulse respone file.

Thanks Steve, interesting on the column width as that was the only thing i hadn't looked at.

Im working with fuzz measure so i have to export impulse then fat and combine the columns to get all 3.

I think it would be so much easier if we could edit the algorithm as its basically outdated.

I too would be interested in the impulse file, having exported one from fuzz measure its 26mb in size so thats an epic amount of data points

I totally agree, that import needs an update. No reason to be so stringent on file format and all.

I'd be interested if you've ever noticed a GUI.exception while using the freq response import for the auto EQ. I saw some interesting behavior that ultimately continued to work but would throw a GUI.exception based on some of the Impulse Response #'s not being initialized correctly. like I said, it continued to work if i ignored the exception, but see if it pops up once you get it working.

Hi,

Resurrecting an old thread here. wondering how to go about converting a CLIO frequency response to the MLSSA format. I just can't seem to get it to work for me. Attached the CLIO data. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
