Hi all,

we are studying the SHARC platform and we need to write a program for a PC to change a number of parameters for the firmware downloaded on the DSP on the demo 21489 board.

My preference is by serial port.

Which is the best way to achieve it?

How about the serial port support on the demo board?

Do I need to implement a specific serial protocol?

Thanks!

Please find the attached example code for SPORT configured as a standard serial mode via DMA. The ADSP-214xx SHARC Processor Hardware Reference manual contains all information about the peripherals associated with ADSP-21489 processors. You can download the manual here

Thanks,

I was studying the hardware manuals but I'd like to take a look to some code, better in C .

What about the 'attached example code' ?

Have a look at the application note on Firmware Upgrade ability on SHARC Processors - EE-345.

Thanks a lot for your replies.

And, what about if we choose the SPI channel?

I'm reading the 'SigmaStudio for SHARC - Data Export and Usage for Host Controller' manual and I saw the data packet.

Is there a way to write a PC program to act as the SigmaStudio?

How can I communicate with the demo board via the USBi interface?

My guess was that the USBi interface will install a virtual serial port, but it did not ..
