Hi,

I'm using ADAU1452 and need to implement multiple instances of a single channel wind noise filter. I can find references to a SigmaStudio Wind Noise filter block, but it doesn't look like this is available for the 1452 DSP... :-(

Can anyone provide a functional diagram for such a filter ?

Many thanks,
Lars

Hello Lars,

It's weird, but I posted an answer to your question and it simply vanished a few minutes later.

Perhaps the concept shown at Huge project to fill up a ADAU1452 and make it do something could be adapted for your application.

Best regards,

Bob

Hello again,

I attached a demonstration project which runs on the stock -1452 eval board. It's not in finished trim, but it may serve to help show what one can do with a frequency-selective noise gating system:

This system covers the voice range from 150 -- 4800 Hz. Each of the 16 filter channels modulates its output by the ratio of its own level to the overall level. As a result, the channels with active voice are opened while the others remain closed. Voice levels are measured by the circled arrangement, a crude form of synchronous detection which tends to reject broadband noise. Ratios are taken by log / subtract / antilog, taking advantage of these functions available on the -1452. The DC sources and adders before the logs prevent taking the log of zero, which is mathematically not allowed (and which, as I found out, creates an awful racket sonically).

Best regards,

Bob
