To Whom it May Concern,

I am using the ADAU1442 and would like to be able to verify via an external micro-controller, the version of code that the ADAU1442 is running. What would be the recommended method be for this? I did not find any type of ID Register, Manufacturer Number Register, Software Revision Register, or the like.

There is some type of CRC Register Address E200xh, but not exactly sure if this can be used to tell what Program content has been loaded into the Program RAM, or that these CRC Registers are simply used internal to indicate a possible memory fault.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Hello Adiup,

The easiest way is to use a DC cell in the program and read it using a readback cell. The readback cell is not required but it makes reading the value a little easier when you are working on the program.

You can see in the screenshot that I changed the format of the DC cell to 28.0 and selected the readback to display the value in hex. The input field in the DC block is in decimal as you can see in my example. 17 = 0x11.

Then in the capture window you can see the address of the DC input and the readback cell.

So you set this value in the DC cell when you are working on the design. Then it will be there when you compile the project and run it. It will also be in the EEPROM image so it will never change once programmed. Now it can be changed during runtime but that is under your control. Changing it during runtime will NOT change it in the EEPROM image. There is no way to change that value without recompiling.

Thanks,

Dave T
