Does anyone know of a simple way to change the type of sigmaDSP device in an existing device?

I designed a processing layout but then I wanted to see if I could scale down onto one of the cheaper sigmaDSP devices and it seems I had to do the whole design again from the beginning.

Thanks

HI Phillip:

As the library within SigmaStudio evolves, some algorithms and elements change between different versions of SigmaStudio making them incompatible between different DSPs. Furthermore the SigmaDSP architecture has also evolved forcing us to rewrite (in the background) some modules, even though users might perceive them to be the same. This complexity has delayed (for quite some time) the creation of an automatic mapping that (as you suggest) would allow our customers to reuse schematics.

We apologize for the need to re-work, hopefully the exercise might help you see what else to optimize or improve. If I may ask, between what DSPs are you moving from/to?

Thank you

Miguel

Hi,

thanks for the honest answer. I was estimating the possibility of a design on SigmaDSP so I started with the largest device you make and it all fitted fine. I then wanted to move down the range until I found the smallest (cheapest!) device it would fit into to estimate the price/performance feasibility for large scale OEM production.

I started with the ADAU1442 and my design fitted easily (30% used at 96 kHz sampling) so I dropped to ADAU1450, then I tried ADAU1461, ADAU1701 and finally ADAU1702. In each case I had to redraw the schematic.

I finally settled on using ADAU1446 which although it wasn't the cheapest solution, it would give us scope for upgrading the design throughout it's life.
