Hi,

I am building a typical mixer channel strip on an ADAU1442 and want to use the Standard Independent RMS Compressor. That's my choice because it seems to be the only one with the typical Attack, Release, Ratio etc. controls. My problem is that it is stereo and I am building mono channel strips.

Any advice on how to run this algorithm in mono or if there is a mono algorithm that will give me the standard compressor controls I know and love :-)

thanks

Philip

Hi Philip:

Thank you for considering using ADI DSPs for your products.

I understand that you are using the Std Independent RMS Compressor because it presents the parameters in the most common and audio centric manner. We'll work on reusing the same interface for the mono compressor as you mention however in the mean time, please use the RMS (no gain) compressor (mono) and map the parameters exposed to your micro controller code. We can assist you in doing so, here in the forum. The underlying code (DSP) between both compressors is exactly the same, it's only the GUI that differs.

Hi,

sorry for not getting back to you, I got completely distracted from this project and then forgot all about it.

I have done similar to what you describe above but I settled on the RMS (gain) compressor (mono).

Thanks for your reply
