The user inquired about the Panic Flag Register (ADAU1452). The DSP sets the panic flag register (0xF427) to 1 when an error occurs, logs core information, and outputs the flag on an MP pin. The error can be cleared by a rising edge on the panic clear register (0xF421).

When the DSP encounters an error, then provided it is not masked (using the panic mask registers) it gets flagged, which means specifically:

The panic flag register (0xF427) is set to 1

One bit is set in the panic code register (0xF428) identifying the error that occurred

Some core information is logged: the currently executing instruction (0xF42D-0xF42E) and an address (0xF432) which seems to be that instruction or one or two instructions later (haven't figured out the pattern yet).

The error can be cleared by a rising edge of the panic clear register (0xF421), and no further errors can be flagged until you do so. The DSP will (try to) continue operating regardless.

The panic flag can also be output on one of the MP pins of the DSP, for example to automatically mute audio or send an interrupt to a host microcontroller.
