Are there any plans to implement the external delay across multiple chips within the next year? Multiple external delays would come in handy for a future product I am designing.

HI Colin:

Yes and no, We are planning to implement external delays for the 145x but no other SigmaDSP. The 145x family of IC is the only one that can support external SPI RAM.

I should be available within 3 months.

Miguel

Hi mmmike, by multiple chips I meant multiple ram chips connected to a single dsp, is this likely to happen?

HI Colin:

Wow, that's taking it to the extreme. Let us first completely support a single chip and we'll take it from there. Currently the 145x can support more than a single audio channel through the SPI RAM. IF this is not your use case. Why would you want to support multiple chips? I guess, I'm curious about your application.

Thank you

If the single chip can support multiple delays then that will be OK, is there any documentation available for the external delay?

HI Colin:

Within a month or so, we'll be releasing a number of modules for this functionality to be more easily exposed to customers.

How many channels of delay do you need.

Miguel

Not sure yet, its at least a year off and still at the pondering stage, it depends on what resources I run out of first, probably 4 or up to 8 channels per DSP, but not all channels will need delay, if its four I can probably get away with the on board RAM, but if I can get eight in then I will need off board. Its going to be a multiple DSP design mixer.
