The user is trying to use a Microchip 23LC1024 as external SPI RAM with the ADAU1452, but the external delay block currently only supports 16-bit addresses. Analog Devices is working on implementing a new external delay block to support 24-bit addresses, and the user can contact them directly to set priority and discuss the application.

Hi,

I try to use a Microchip 23LC1024 as external delay SPI RAM with the ADAU1452.

On the ADAU1452MINIZ evalboard i replaced the selfboot eeprom with the RAM chip.

When i look at the SPI signals it seems that the external delay algorithm addresses the SPI RAM with a 16 bit address (because the algorithm was designed for the 23K256 ).

The 23LC1024 chip needs a 24 bit address.

My question is:

How can the 23LC1024 be used as SPI RAM for the external delay block ?

How can the address width be set to 24 bits ?

Please help

Bernd

Hi Bernd,

Currently the External delay block supports only 16 bit SPI address. 23LC1024 cannot be used as the RAM for external delay block for now.

However a new external delay block can be implemented to support 24 bit SPI address.

Thanks

Mazher

Hi Mazher,

Thanks for the information.

I am very interested in the longer external delay even if it is only one audio channel.

What must i do to trigger the start of the implementation ?

What would be the estimated time for the implementation ?

Best regards

Bernd

Hi Analog,

Are there any plans to implement the external delay block of the ADAU1452 with 24bit addresses ?

Thanks for thinking about this.

Best regards

Bernd

Hi Bernd:

This is currently work in progress. At this point, it's difficult to tell when exactly the module will become available. Most likely within the next month or two. Can you help us set the priority of this module by telling us about your time frames and application?

You can contact us directly if you prefer.

Regards

Miguel
