Hello Amine,

It would be good for you to read page 27 in the datasheet for more detail and the user guide for the eval board also has information about the selfboot feature.

Selfboot is a feature of the ADAU1701 that will load in a program when the part is powered up. How this works is the program has to be stored on an external EEPROM. When the SELFBOOT and WP pins are set high and the part is reset or powered up. Then the I2C port will act as a master and load in the program from the EEPROM. Once it has completed the programming, then it will resort to being a slave on the I2C bus and be ready for any communication. The program will be running at that point.

On the evaluation board it is the same but there is a switch to activate or deactivate the selfboot feature. Then if you setup SigmaStudio with both the ADAU1701 and the EEPROM in the hardware configuration, then you can program the EEPROM directly from SigmaStudio. The user guide for the evaluation board has the details on how to do that.
