Thread Summary

The user inquired about connecting two axes of the ADXL345 digital accelerometer to the ADAU1452 MINIZ Eval Board. The final answer indicates that the ADXL345's data is read via SPI or I2C, not PDM, and suggests involving a system controller for integration. The accompanying answer clarifies that the ADAU1452 supports PDM digital microphones but not the ADXL345 directly.

I'm intending to evaluate the ADAU1452 MINIZ Eval Board, working with an analogue microphone and analogue / digital Accelerometers. Is it possible to connect 2 of the 3 axis of the digital accelerometer ADXL345 to the ADAU1452 DSP eval board. It looks like there may be an option using the Digital Microphone input on J2 or J3.

Hello Chris,

Yes, there is an option for connecting digital microphones into the ADAU1452. Digital microphones produce a PDM bit stream for its data output. The ADXL345 does not have a PDM output for its data. All the data is read using SPI or I2C. So the easiest way is to have a system controller involved in the system. If you need to use this digital accelerometer then there may be a work around that I would have to investigate.

Thanks,

Dave T
