I'm processing 16 stereo channels. Can I output those as two TDM16 streams using the ADAU1442? I think the answer is no, because there aren't enough output channels.

I also want to verify I can input two TDM8 streams. That shouldn't be a problem, just the number of outputs.

I'm just making sure I didn't overlook something, so I appreciate a confirmation on the TDM16 outputs.

Thanks everyone!

You are correct. The 24 channel limit will allow you to run a TDM8 and a TDM16 stream at the same time, but not (2) TDM16. I suppose you could run the second TDM16 with only 8 channels of data, if that is helpful.

Keep in mind the upper limit on BCLK frequency of 24.576 MHz, so for TDM8 you are limited to 96 kHz operation, and for TDM 16 you are limited to 48 kHz.

Best regards,

Coleman

Thanks!!!

I'm inputting 8 stereo channels and expanding to 16 stereo outputs, processing everything at 48KHz. I'll input two TDM8 streams and have to use two ADAU1442s to be able to get 16 stereo outputs, outputting a TDM16 stream on each ADAU1442 into an ADAU1966, with one of the ADAU1966's configured as the clock master and the other as a slave. I'll parallel the TDM inputs of the ADAU1442s to get all 8 stereo channels.
