KKSL Question

Hello,

WM8805 is an SPDIF transceiver from Wolfson.

I want to use it in hardware (HW) mode with ADAV4601.

In HW mode, the datasheet of WM8805 mandates use of an external crystal/ clock of 12MHz only.

The frequency on CLKOUT pin of WM8805 is 12MHz.

Can I use this 12MHz clock instead of the more conventional audio clock of 12.288MHz for the ADAV4601?

Thanks in advance!

Hi KKSL,

The ADAV4601 should scale proportionally if you slow down the master clock. Just keep in mind that you'll have to re-calculate any frequency-dependent parameters (like filter coefficients) to match the new sample rate.

So, your sample rate will be 12/12.88 * 48 = 46.875 kHz.
