[Bug Report] VC sweep triggering error
SigmaStudio 3.10, Windows XP sp3, 32-bit.
Hello guyz, I found a strange problem and KJBob also confirmed it. The idea is when I try to trigger a Voltage controlled sweep block with a pulse generator, it works fine (sometimes though it stops working all of a sudden). But if I try to trigger it with a voltage controlled pulse generator it doesn't work.
Here is an example.
Hi Skfir,
I tried to download and run your project, but it's not opening due to some kind of error. Would you please post a screenshot of the section that is causing you trouble? That way I can rebuild it from scratch.
I created this basic schematic with a pulse generator controlling a sweep. Is this what you were going for?
Maybe I didn't understand your description correctly...
Hello Yagami and thank you for trying to correct this.
The schematic you made is exactly what I tried, just there was an output instead of the graph block and in my case it didn't work at all.
Skfir,
I gave this a try again tonight and unfortunately I wasn't able to make any progress. I can't seem to get any output at all from the Sweep algorithm.
I have attached my test project in case anybody wants to give it a shot. No luck getting an output from the sweep generator so far.
I used a ABCD logic block to make sure the logic signal was alternating between a 1 and 0 and not hitting any intermediate values, but that didn't seem to have an effect whether in 5.23 format or 28.0 format.
The only block which works fine (90% of cases) is an ordinary pulse generator (not VC) this guy triggers the sweep fine, all the others nop.
Hi Skfir and Yagami.
The Sweep with On-Off Input is a recently-introduced beta block (see https://ez.analog.com/message/75342#75342 ) When the input question originally came up -- see https://ez.analog.com/thread/40921 -- I tried several ways to make the sweep operate. It would not trigger from a Buffer Gate with various bit settings, either flavor of Manual Switch, a Zero-Cross Detector .... I didn't try the ABCD Comparator, which is a neat way to fix problems but even that didn't work here. It appears that as presently implemented, the Sweep's trigger input is a placebo. It has all the sensitivity of a carnival Hi-Striker -- even a 20-pound sledge won't budge it. It will remain so until the block itself is fixed. That's what beta releases sometimes do.
it's interesting that the sweep does trigger at least sometimes from an plain (not externally controlled) pulse generator. This suggests there's a strange interaction between the sweep's on-off input and whatever block is controlling it. In the past, behavior like this has indicated a bug somewhere -- see for example, https://ez.analog.com/message/130184#130184
Best regards,
Bob
