Is there a clever way to embed the active filename into my project file, so it can be queried via I2C? This would be helpful to identify software versions and such by an external processor.

I could just use a numeric constant that encodes my version, but I was hoping for something a little more elegant/automatic. FWIW I'm using the 1701.

(No big deal, but this might be a nice feature for future versions if SigmaStudio)

Hi Joe,

This is a nice feature idea, but it might not be possible to implement. It's fairly simple to put an arbitrary number into parameter memory using the "DC Source" cell in the SigmaStudio library. The problem is that the compiler automatically assigns parameter values to different memory addresses when a project is compiled, and there is no way to manually "lock" a given parameter to a certain address and override the compiler's automatic assignment of the address. This would make it impossible to guarantee that your version parameter would be assigned to the address you expect.

I'll check with the software team just to be sure, but unfortunately I think this is outside of what the compiler is capable of doing.

Thanks. The DC constant is certainly a way to do something similar, which is what I had in mind. It wouldn't need to be locked to an address though; just would be nice to have the filename/number "accessible" somehow by the Sigma. Obviously it's not that important of a feature, just seeing if there was a way to do it easily.
