EVAL-ADAU1701 MINIZ Writeback Circuit
Hello Brett!
I have noticed strange behaviour of the mini board ADAU1701 in which the it doesn't do the writeback sequence everytime I do the RESET or re-power up. I believe the writeback circuit allows or triggers the WB pin so the sigma DSP writes the updated param data right after power down or reset.
I have found previous discussion https://ez.analog.com/message/23469#23469 saying the the writeback circuit layout has some errors. Is this already solved by now? I have purchased the mini board just two months ago in October 2013.
I want to study the writeback behaviour of the DSP with a master controller in the system modifying the DSP parameters and the DSP does the writeback to the EEPROM.
Thanks and regards,
Dan

Hi Dan,
The issue with the evaluation board remains unresolved. Even with a modified design, it has proven quite difficult to keep the power supply high long enough for the writeback sequence to complete.
You can manually complete a writeback by shorting the WB pin. However, in a real system, I think you would need to have some sort of intelligent way of keeping the power supply high when triggering the writeback long enough fort the write operation to complete.
Brett,
Thanks a lot, that explains it! I'll keep asking our hardware team to take look at this problem.

Dan
In my ADAU1701 boards I use different WB circuit:
and I never had problems.
Thank you, Adam! This looks like a great solution.

It is complete schematic diagram for my WriteBack (WB) and Reset (RES) circuit for ADAU1701.
Two screenshot during:
power up (blue - RESET, red - WriteBack),
and power down
Adau has a lot of time to store eeprom data compared to 73us from datasheet.
Dear traxman,
This is a great help! I'll try changing the hardware if it works for my design for I have followed the default WB circuit from the datasheet. Thanks a LOT!
More power to you,
Dan
