Thread Summary

The user inquires about generating an FSK input signal for algorithm verification on the ADAU1701 DSP IC without hardware. The final answer clarifies that while the Stimulus/Probe tool can be used to predict filter responses, it cannot generate or display signals. The engineer suggests building and compiling the project in SigmaStudio to estimate resource usage, but actual algorithm functionality cannot be verified without hardware.

I am developing a algorithm for FSK demodulation using ADAU1701 DSP IC without any hardware eval kit. In order to verify my design, I need to give a FSK input to the chip. Is that possible that we can virtually give such FSK signal as input and check whether my algorithm works.

If its possible with stimulus and probe, then please explain me how to configure that stimulus for my own FSK waveform.

Hello,

Stimulus / Probe is a frequency response tool; it does not generate or display signals. However it does work without hardware, and you can use it to predict the amplitude and phase response of any filters in your project. Please see https://ez.analog.com/thread/37460 for more info.

You can build your project in SigmaStudio and compile it to see if it will fit into a -1701. To estimate resource use, see https://ez.analog.com/docs/DOC-1563. The -1701 allows for about 1000 instructions at the 48KHz sample rate, 490 at 96K, or 240 at 192K. Unfortunately it isn't possible to actually see how your design functions without hardware.

Best regards,

Bob
