Hi,

I'm working on a project that should allow people to build basic DSP functionality without the need of low-level programming a DSP chip. I like Sigma Studio, because it does exactly this. Unfortunately the license agreement does not allow end users to use SigmaStudio. Is there a chance to allow end users of a specific project to use Sigma studio (without support by Analog devices). I can give you more information about the project if you like. If this is not the case - are there any documentation about the command set of the SigmaDSP processors. I might even be programming my own application framework, but to do this I would need more documentation about the command set of the processor.

It would be very cool, if we could find a solution to use the ADAU1701 DSP for this project.

Best regards
Daniel

Hello, Daniel.

Unfortunately you cannot bundle SigmaStudio with your product. It was only meant to be used as a development tool. In the future, we're hoping to create a tool that will allow you to distribute a GUI to your end users, but this is still in the concept phase. For more detail, see this FAQ: Can we bundle SigmaStudio with our product design?

We are also unable to provide the USB interface code, so if you want to implement PC-based software control of your product, you'll have to handle the USB communications on your own. For more information, see this FAQ: Can ADI provide or support the USB interface firmware code for my self-assembled PCB or end product?

However, SigmaStudio does provide the tools that let you figure out what data needs to be sent to which addresses in order to change parameters at run-time. This will allow you to ship a fixed-function signal flow to your customer, and it will allow them to change the parameters of the signal flow while the device is in operation. You can find tutorials here: How do I create the microcontroller code to interface to my SigmaDSP?

Signal flows must be developed graphically. We do not provide a C compiler, and the DSP op codes were not made publicly available because doing so would threaten the security of the IP for our third party algorithm providers, as well as our customers who implement their own IP using the graphical blocks in SigmaStudio. For more information, see this thread: Can I write C or assembly code for SigmaDSP in SigmaStudio?
