Hello, I am new to DSP programming, and I have the numbers that I want to write to the registers, and the addresses, but I am planning to use matlab to safeload a parameter value into the parameter ram of a 1940AD SigmaStudio DSP board. I don't know the syntax for the REGISTER_WRITE or REGISTER_WRITE_SAFELAOD. I am looking for a few examples on how to use these commands. Any ideas?

Thank you for your time,

Keith M.

Hi Keith,

I see this is a continuation of the discussion here: https://ez.analog.com/message/117795#117795

Can you please describe the setup of your hardware and software and exactly what you're trying to accomplish? I'm having a bit of trouble picturing the setup, which makes it difficult to find a solution.

I don't have any direct experience with the Matlab COM server, so I might have to try to get somebody from the software team involved.

Brett,

It is partially a continuation of the thread you linked to, though I believe my question was answered, I'm sorry to create a second one.

I am working with an AD1940 SigmaStudio development board, connected to my computer with a USBi cable. The board is presently used as a filter in a system, and it has been of interest to change a parameter, such as the gain, programmatically. While this would work with the built in scripting function, I also need to be able to control other instruments as well, which Matlab does.

So it would be nice to control the SigmaStudio board through Matlab, using SigmaStudio's server feature, which allows the user to run SigmaStudio as a server, with Matlab as a client. There are several commands that one could use to control the board using this control, to control parameters such as the gain or delay of certain parameters, like using the gui. In order to write new values to the dsp, I need to use the safeload procedure to write to the registers, but I don't know the syntax or any details about the syntax to use the REGISTER_SAFELAOD_WRITE() or the PARAMETER_SAFELAOD_WRITE(), but I don't know what the syntax to write to which register/what data to write and so on.

In the tutorial you posted, there was a description on how to write to the registers safely, but was this in SigmaStudio's script tool? If so, that would solve my problem.

Is there any additional clarification needed? I was just wondering, is all.

Thank you for your time,

Keith McKinzie

Brett,

I am trying to resolve my issue with the COM server functionality in SigmaStudio, is there anyone that I could email and ask? I just need a few lines of code or even a basic example of using the COM server to write to the registers, and I could modify the code as needed. Is there anything that I can do?

Thank you for your time,

Keith McKinzie
